NewsPhil Spector trial: Day 8Phil Spector's chauffer, Adriano DeSouza, took the stand in today (May 15) during the producer's murder trial in Los Angeles. Spector is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson on February 3, 2003 at his Los Angeles mansion. DeSouza drove Spector around on the night of Clarkson's death. He said that he took Spector out for a night of partying before taking the producer back to his mansion along with Clarkson. DeSouza remained outside in the car after the couple went inside. The driver told the LA County Grand Jury that at about 5:00 a.m. on Feb. 3, he heard what he described as a pop, and then saw Spector leaving the house holding a gun, reports the Los Angeles Times. "I think I killed somebody," he quoted Spector as saying. The defence is expected to challenge DeSouza's ability to hear anything that morning because of a noisy nearby fountain. During today's testimony, DeSouza said that he worked for the producer 13 or 14 times and earned approximately $30 an hour. Also testifying today was Sophia Holguin, a waitress at the House of Blues who served Spector on the morning of Feb. 3. She said that Spector asked her to go home with him, but she turned him down. She also said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Young Jeezy arrested at strip club Young Jeezy was arrested at a strip club in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday (May 24). The rapper, born Jay Jenkins, was taken in by DeKalb County Police after an incident at the club in Clarkston at approximately 3 am, according to police spokesperson Michael Payne. "Evidently there was some type of altercation in the club, someone didn't want to leave," Payne told the Associated Press. "It turns out one of the people in the group was Jay Jenkins or Young Jeezy. Evidently he was there with his sister and some friends," he said. Payne explained that Young Jeezy and two male friends were booked on disorderly conduct charges at the DeKalb jail and released. The rapper's sister was reportedly given a citation for disorderly conduct but wasn't booked at the jail. Payne added that there was no physical confrontation, explaining it was all verbal and the group was being belligerent. |
